Welcome to the training on identifying your own skills!

The target group for this training is women.
Software Finland ry is an association representing the leadership of IT and software-driven companies. One of the association’s flagship initiatives is the Mimmit koodaa (“Women who Code”) program, which has helped thousands of women become interested in technology and find employment in the industry.
Our new project now delivers a training program that promotes skill recognition, articulation, and labour market matching with a focus on the ICT sector. The training is aimed at women, and no prior interest or experience in technology is required. What matters most is the ability to learn and an open mind – a new career path may well be found through technology. The training has an open and continuous application process.
The pilot training includes themes such as:
- How to identify and package your existing skills to meet the needs of the ICT sector
- Improving job search materials, portfolios, and work samples
- Understanding and overcoming impostor thoughts
- Meeting and networking with other participants and companies involved in the project
Please note:
- This training is not official labour market training
- It is not formal self-directed education
- It does not meet the criteria for short-term study
If you are unemployed, please check your eligibility to participate in activities offered by organisations outside your local employment area.
Training Format
The training is fully online. You can proceed entirely at your own pace, at a time that suits you best – there are no scheduled live sessions. However, one of the most important and unique aspects of this training is community – sharing experiences and thoughts, asking for help, and supporting one another. This enables genuine networking and new beginnings.
Participants use their real names in the group, and the digital workspace follows safer space principles. Trust is key: discussions remain within the group and are not shared externally. The training accepts new participants on a rolling basis.
Time Commitment
We recommend setting aside time not only for completing tasks and engaging in discussion, but also for updating your CV – and most importantly, for rest. Rest helps you structure and deepen your learning.
Instructions for Participants in an EU-Funded Project – Recording Your Information in the EURA 2021 System
You are participating in a training program funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). Regulations require that we report the number of individuals participating in EU-funded projects. This information is stored in the EURA 2021 system maintained by the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Employment in Finland.
The purpose of this data collection is to ensure that project activities reach the target groups for which funding has been granted, and to understand what kinds of results these projects achieve in Finland. Without this process, we cannot receive funding for our work.
